With the new Plymouth Community Diagnostic Centre opening in June 2026, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy Bookings Team in Imaging.
An effective communicator, you will be expected to provide an efficient and effective administrative service, ensuring compliance with departmental procedures and safe recruitment processes.

Main duties of the jobPatient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Job responsibilities- Provide administrative support to Consultants, Clinical Staff and all patients under their care liaise with medical secretaries, including diary administration, correspondence support and other administrative duties as required.
- Open and prioritise incoming post, ensuring supporting information is available when appropriate and taking responsibility for actioning urgent items in the absence of the Consultants or clinical staff.
- Support patients by booking relevant diagnostic investigations and expediting, where appropriate, in line with the 6 week diagnostic DM01 pathway.
- Monitor urgent investigation requests to ensure they are processed appropriately.
- Work closely with all staff in the service to ensure compliance with 18 week referral to treatment (RTT) targets, 6 week diagnostic DM01 and 2 week Suspected Cancer targets, escalating and intervening where necessary to expedite appointments and procedures to avoid breaches.
- Update patient details on iPMS (EPIC)/CRIS SCR and other departmental record systems.
- Ensure patients that have not attended or cancelled their appointments are flagged up and rebooked in a timely manner.
- Act upon queries from referrers, patients and other relevant parties in liaison with clinical staff. Take relevant action to provide reassurance and support to patients and their families by finding appropriate solutions to problems, which requires the ability to understand and explain basic medical procedures and terminology.
- NVQ Level 2 in Business Admin or relevant demonstrable experience
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard (must include English and Maths).
- Demonstrable experience in working with the general public.
- Demonstrable experience of CRIS
- Good communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
- Ability to work on own initiative, but also as a member of a team
- Demonstrating the ability to work unsupervised within stated guidelines.
- Understanding the Trust waiting list policy within the workplace.
- Able to work calmly and methodically in a busy environment when working to deadlines.
