Welcome to the payroll and pensions advertisement. This function sits within Finance, responsible for payroll of all King's employees. There are approximately 10,000+ staff currently.

This role requires a high level of payroll quality and aims to deliver a service that collaborates with payroll administrators and the wider finance community.

We are located at Lavington Street, where most of the professional service staff are based.

About the role:

The primary function of this role is to provide high-quality payroll services and supervise the Payroll Administrators within the Payroll Service team.

This position will lead a team of 4-5 payroll administrators and may support other team leaders and their faculties.

The role holder will build and maintain strong working relationships across Finance, HR, and other university areas related to their faculty. They will be required to visit other campuses to maintain relationships and support administrators with accurate information.

They will ensure all reporting is checked, and employee hours are accurately calculated for wages and salaries.

About you:

To succeed, candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, taxation, and National Insurance regulations, including statutory reporting requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of University Pension Schemes.
  • Basic understanding of employment law.
  • Customer service skills and a service-oriented approach.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Numeracy and IT literacy, with proficiency in office software and relevant finance and HR systems.
  • Self-management and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy in work.
  • Professional attitude when dealing with others.
  • Experience in a customer service environment.
