Job Description

VANRATH are currently working with a leading manufacturing organisation who are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented payroll professional to take ownership of a busy payroll function with added exposure to broader finance processes.

What You'll Do

In this varied and hands-on role, you'll play a key part in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time across multiple sites. Responsibilities will include:

  • Processing both monthly and bi-weekly payrolls within strict deadlines
  • Managing overtime and bonus payments, including calculations and approvals
  • Handling starters, leavers, pensions, student loans, and auto-enrolment updates
  • Maintaining and updating the Time & Attendance system
  • Preparing BACS files for payment release and reconciling credit card and expense transactions
  • Posting wages journals and reconciling payroll-related control accounts
  • Submitting accurate HMRC returns and staying current with all legislative updates
  • Producing payroll and headcount reports for internal stakeholders
  • Supporting audit and budgeting processes
  • Contributing to ongoing improvements in payroll systems and procedures
About You

This role is ideal for someone with strong payroll experience, looking to broaden their financial expertise within a fast-paced industry. We're looking for:

  • Proven experience processing UK payroll
  • Strong knowledge of PAYE, NIC, HMRC returns, and pensions
  • Proficiency in payroll software (Sage or similar) and advanced Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset
  • Finance or accounting-related qualification
  • ROI payroll experience
