About Us

We are a highly respected and compassionate hospice providing specialist palliative care and support to patients and families across Kent. Our people are at the heart of everything we do and that includes our dedicated employees.

We are now looking for a proactive and experienced Payroll Manager to join our People and Culture Team. This is a key operational role ensuring our monthly payroll and pension processes (including NHS Pension and Scottish Widows) are accurate, timely and compliant.

The Role

As Payroll Manager, you will:

  • Process monthly payroll for approx. 300 staff using IRIS Cascade Payroll.
  • Manage time sheets, pay variations, enhancements, and tax code changes.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, including FPS, EPS submissions, PAYE reconciliation, and year-end reporting.
  • Be the main point of contact for all payroll and pension queries from staff.
  • Oversee contributions and reporting for both the NHS and Scottish Widows pension schemes.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the IRIS Cascade and RotaGeek interface.
  • Collaborate closely with HR Advisors, Finance, and line managers.

What You'll Need

  • Proven payroll management experience (end-to-end), ideally within a healthcare or charitable setting.
  • Knowledge of NHS Pension Scheme and auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Strong IT and systems skills (IRIS Cascade Payroll experience desirable).
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Thorough attention to detail and a proactive, collaborative approach.
