JOB ROLE: Payroll & HR Coordinator

HOURS: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (full time onsite)

SALARY: £16 - £18 per hour

LOCATION: Copthorne

DURATION: Temp to Perm

We are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Payroll & HR Coordinator to join our clients team. This is a payroll-led position with responsibility for coordinating and administering the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.

Alongside payroll responsibilities, the successful candidate will provide HR administrative support across the employee lifecycle, helping to ensure a positive and efficient employee experience.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with numbers, has a strong understanding of payroll processes and legislation, and takes pride in delivering a high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities Payroll (Primary Focus)
  • Manage and coordinate the monthly payroll process for all employees.
  • Ensure all payroll data is accurately processed, validated and submitted within agreed deadlines.
  • Administer salary changes, overtime payments, bonuses, allowances, deductions and statutory payments.
  • Process starters, leavers and contractual changes within payroll systems.
  • Liaise with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to resolve payroll queries and discrepancies.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and support month-end activities.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, pension auto-enrolment requirements and employment legislation.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure employee data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Produce payroll reports and analysis for management as required.
  • Support internal and external payroll audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and efficiencies.
HR Administration
  • Maintain employee records and HR systems.
  • Support onboarding and induction activities for new starters.
  • Support absence, holiday and employee records management.
  • Respond to routine employee queries relating to payroll, benefits and HR policies.
Essential
  • Proven experience in payroll administration or payroll coordination.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, statutory payments, pensions and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience managing payroll data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Experience using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
