The Patient Services Clerk has a varied role which spans several work areas. Depending on placement, not all tasks may be carried out, and additional duties may be assigned.
Main duties of the jobYou will provide a professional, friendly, and effective reception service directly to patients and relatives, and liaise with volunteer staff to ensure visitors are escorted and supported. You will support patients during their attendance to appointments and provide administrative support to clinical teams. The role requires strong organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and prior office experience, ideally in an NHS environment. Competent handling of virtual appointments, telephone enquiries, and computer skills are essential.
Person Specification Education/Qualifications- Good standard of education or equivalent work based experience
- Computer literate (e.g., ECDL or equivalent experience)
- NVQ2 or Basic Level Certificate of Technical Competence (Institute of Health Records and Information Management) or equivalent
- Knowledge of a range of administration systems acquired through experience and qualification
- Knowledge of confidentiality and Data Protection legislation
- Previous experience in an office environment
- Previous experience in a front of house environment
- Administrative experience within an NHS organisation
This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
