We are recruiting for a Patient Services Administrator - Treatment Centre who shares our vision to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
This role will be based in the Ophthalmology team at East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust in Stevenage, working cross-site at Lister Hospital, New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City and Hertford County Hospital.
The role has shift working patterns (7 3, 9 5, 10 6, 12 8) and includes covering one Saturday a month.
The Patient Service Administrator post is a varied role working within the Bookings, Waiting List and Reception teams.
You will need to be confident dealing with members of the public in both face to face and telephone situations.

Main duties of the jobThis involves booking clinics, answering the phone, providing reception cover for clinics, and cashing out clinics.
Liaising with clinicians and other staff to ensure smooth running of the department.
Reporting potential concerns regarding clinic availability to the line manager, and anticipating future needs to ensure demands on the Lister Treatment Centre are met.
Confirming the validity and accuracy of patient demographics and updating appropriate systems.
Monitoring IT systems for potential duplicate entries or related referrals and taking remedial action as necessary.
Using the PAS system and Choose and Book software to receive and manage referrals, support choice offers and book appointments.

Qualifications and Training- NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- Literate and numerate
- ECDL
- Ability to work in a busy office environment
- Keeping accurate and complete records consistent with legislation, policy and procedures
- Experience of NHS patient records processes
- Understanding of NHS procedures
- Communicating with a range of people on a range of matters in a form appropriate to them and the situation
- Assisting with improving communication
- Knowledge of NHS PAS systems
- Knowledge of Choice and waiting time targets
- The ability to work unsupervised with managerial support
- Flexibility
