Job Description
Pastoral Care Officer 
Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £150 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full Time
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with learners
- Support pupils presenting with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours
- Promote safeguarding, welfare, and emotional wellbeing at all times
- Provide daily pastoral support addressing social, emotional, and physical needs
- Supervise learners during breaktimes and lunchtimes
- Act as part of an on call pastoral support network throughout the school day
- Liaise with teaching staff, pastoral teams, parents/carers, and multi agency professionals
- Provide classroom cover when required
- Support learner transitions, independence training, and reintegration
- Implement first day response strategies to promote positive attendance
- Maintain a safe, secure, and inclusive school environment
- Previous experience working in a pastoral setting
- Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
- Strong communication and de escalation skills
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
