As part of this growth, we're seeking a Passive Fire Protection Lead Engineer to join our established team. In this expert-level role, you'll take ownership of complex, high-impact technical cases, ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence and delivering smart, safety-first solutions that make a real difference. You'll lead technical consultations with customers and internal teams, provide second/third-line support on challenging cases, and use your specialist expertise to mentor colleagues and elevate team capability. Drawing on your industry experience, you'll conduct technical assessments, drive customer excellence, and act as the final reviewer for the most complex Engineering Judgements (EJs).
What does the role involve?As an expert in Passive Fire Protection, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders. You'll apply your expertise to propose bespoke firestop solutions and develop engineering evaluations and judgements.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Resolve complex technical challenges - from escalated third-line support cases to exceptional Engineering Judgements (EJs), ensuring seamless integration and expert-level solutions.
- Lead and oversee technical evaluations - run consultation calls, act as final reviewer for EJ feasibility and outputs, manage EJ parent tickets, and ensure quality, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Drive technical excellence and team development - mentor engineers and field colleagues, lead advanced knowledge-sharing sessions, and remain the go-to expert in passive fire protection.

Our Regional Head Office is located at Circle Square, Central Manchester. We offer a hybrid working pattern and flexible working options - feel free to discuss what flexibility means to you during your interview.
What you need is:- Proven expertise in Passive Fire Protection, including assessments, engineering judgements, and technical writing.
- Relevant qualification such as a relevant Engineering degree, IFE, ASPF
- Strong experience delivering complex solution assessments or applied engineering.
- Up-to-date knowledge of national and international fire protection codes, standards, and regulations.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving ability with a focus on practical solutions.
- Strong communicator and team player in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Proficient in technical English for reviewing and revising documentation.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Willingness to commute to our Manchester HQ when required.
- Willingness to travel within Europe for training, fire-testing and events (with notice).
