Part Time School Caretaker

Locations: Multiple schools across Derby

Hours: Monday to Friday, approx. 7 am - 9 am and 4 pm - 6 pm (20 hours per week)

Pay: £13.50 per hour

No shifts during school holidays

What you'll be doing

• Carry out general site maintenance, minor repairs and basic DIY
• Open and lock the school site each day
• Clean classrooms, corridors, dining areas and changing rooms to a high standard
• Take litter away and keep outdoor areas tidy
• Set up and put away furniture for lessons and school activities
• Record deliveries and monitor stock levels
• Support fire safety procedures and assist vulnerable individuals during evacuations
• Help with lunchtime set up and clean down
• Assist external contractors and oversee maintenance works
• Complete compliance checks and log findings accurately

What we're looking for

• Previous caretaker, janitor, handyperson or site support experience is helpful (not essential)
• Enhanced Child DBS dated within the last 12 months (or willingness to obtain - we can help)
• Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment
• Confident communicator with a positive, can do attitude
• Ability to work independently and manage time well
• Familiarity with cleaning products, equipment and safe working practices
