Job Description

We are currentlylooking for a Medical Receptionist to join our friendly team; the post is part-time16 hours to be worked 3 days. Pay scalewill be in accordance with experience. Previousexperience of working in a health care setting is preferred but not necessaryas full training will be provided. EMIS clinical system knowledge would bedesirable.

Main duties of the job

The duties and responsibilities to be undertakenby members of the practice administration team are mainly reception and office duties and these may bevaried from time to time under the direction of the Assistant PracticeManager/Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workloadand staffing levels:

We are a friendly GP surgery with a dedicated administration team and an established clinical team, located in the centre of Whitefield.

Job responsibilities

Processing personal and telephone requests forAppointments, Home Visits and Telephone Consultations, ensuring callers aredirected to the appropriate Healthcare Professional

Provide an efficient reception service for patients andany other visitors to the Practice

Providing clerical assistance to Practice staff asrequired, including Photocopying, Scanning, Read Coding and Filing

Dealing with general enquiries and explain Practiceprocedures to patients

Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance withpractice guidelines

Computer data entry/data allocation and collation;processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures

Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist inthe smooth running of the Practice

Communicate test results appropriately being aware ofconfidentiality at all times

Initiating contact with and responding to requests frompatients, other team member and associated Healthcare Agencies and Providers

Keeping the reception area, noticeboards and leafletdispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter

Enter patient information on to the computer as required

Opening up/locking up of practice premises andmaintaining security in accordance with practice protocols

Understand and applylegal issues that support the identification of vulnerable and abused childrenand adults, and be aware of statutory child/vulnerable patients healthprocedures and local guidance

Be aware of ChildProtection and Safeguarding issues and communicate concerns in accordance withpractice protocol.

Undertake regular mandatory training child protection,vulnerable adults, basic life support, moving and handling etc.

Person Specification Qualifications
