Part Time Groundsperson/Gardener - Vacancy
We're looking for a self employed part time groundsperson/gardener on a private estate near Cranbrook to join a small team consisting of a full time head gardener, a part time trainee and volunteer. We also use contractual arborists. This is a beautiful parkland garden of approximately 40 acres, with mature trees, flowering shrubs, naturalised bulbs, lawns, meadows and lakes.
We are looking for someone with preferably at least RHS level 2 qualification.
Duties to include- Lawn mowing
- Hedge cutting
- Stimming
- Leaf blowing
- Help with clearing up after storms
- Pruning of shrub, climbing, and rambling roses
- Watering containers
- Using mechanical log splitter
- Taking logs to the main house
- Raising tree canopies using hand tools
- Removing dead wood
- Keeping waterways free of branch blockages
- Maintaining and fixing broken fencing
- Working in the lakes clearing weeds and invasive plants
- Moving furniture into the barn for winter and back out again in spring
- Deadheading
- Tidying the greenhouse
- Building bonfires
- Making compost bins
- Mulching
- Cleaning the tool shed and basic maintenance of machines
- All other duties to present the garden to a high standard
Having spraying licenses/Chainsaw licence would be advantageous.
The position is for 2 days a week with the potential to increase to 3 days further down the line. There is flexibility in the particular days to work.
Salary: Self employed £200 a day. PAYE can be considered.
Working Hours: 2 days a week 8am - 4pm
