Grade B - £28,598 - £34,434

Working 36.5 hours per week - occasional weekends, Bank Holidays, and evenings may be required.

The Role

As the Parks Events & Community Engagement Support Officer, you will coordinate and administer the Use of Parks process. You'll support the planning and delivery of events, funfairs, circuses, and community activities across Birmingham's parks, ensuring all applications meet required standards and our parks are used in a balanced and sustainable way.

You'll work closely with event organisers, residents, colleagues, and partners to support safe and successful events, maintain accurate records, track income, and respond to enquiries. On occasion you will be required to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays depending on events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the Use of Parks application process to ensure fair and balanced use of all sites.
  • Support the planning, organisation, and delivery of approved events, funfairs, and circuses.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety obligations and Use of Parks conditions are met.
  • Liaise with event organisers, residents, and internal teams to support compliant and successful events.
  • Assist with monitoring income generation and following up on outstanding payments.
  • Respond to enquiries from applicants, councillors, and Parks & Green Spaces managers.
  • Support the creation of website and social media content to guide users through the application process.
  • Work with Marketing and PR colleagues where required.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining statistical and management information systems.
  • Maintain accurate manual and digital records, including data input and retrieval.
About You

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and confident working with a wide range of people. You'll bring experience from a parks management or events environment and be comfortable juggling multiple tasks in a fast paced setting.

Essential Criteria
  • Experience working in a parks management and/or events environment.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numeracy skills.
  • Confident using a wide range of computer software, including Microsoft applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with diverse audiences.
  • A team player who can support colleagues and service users.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
