Job Description

Parkinson's UK is the leading European based charitable funder of Parkinson's research. And we've invested over £130 million in ground-breaking research so far. We fund top quality research to accelerate research breakthroughs for people living with Parkinson's today and a cure in the future.

We fund very early, fundamental research to help find ways to slow or stop the condition, through to drug discovery and clinical trials. And we also fund research that might be able to help manage specific symptoms and deliver improved treatments, technologies, therapies and services in the shorter term.

We are looking for scientific experts from all areas of Parkinson's research to expand the membership of our College of Experts. This includes clinicians and lab-based researchers, as well as experts who develop devices and digital tools.

Alongside people with lived experience of Parkinson's, the College of Experts makes recommendations for funding for all stages of the review process for our project grants, non-drug approaches grants, and fellowship schemes and may also attend online grants assessment panel meetings.

College of Experts scientific members are expected to have: at least a five-year publication record that shows an impact in their field of research; prior experience in reviewing funding applications / research manuscripts for publication; as well as success in obtaining and running effective research grants / awards.

Current College of Experts scientific member: "This is the first panel I sat on where both during the panel on the day and the written reports and evaluations in advance, people with Parkinson's were included. This was extremely valuable throughout the review process and important to me as a reviewer and a scientist. It was so helpful, informative, and motivating. I would love it if this was the case for every panel I'm involved in".
