To carry out and decorating work, including surface preparation and the application of paints, finishes and minor wall make good, to ensure the Trust's buildings are presentable, well maintained and fit for purpose.
You will be responsible for ensuring your work is carried out within the set priority for the task, and why work not completed will be highlighted to the Helpdesk.
You will support the wider Estates and Facilities Team by providing assistance to the multi skilled engineering and building craftsperson.
Main duties of the jobTo contribute to improving patient and visitor experience.
To be a customer focussed point of contact for Estates and Facilities services.
Demonstrate a logical and practical approach to tasks.
Play key role in the delivery of planned painting and decorating programmes as instructed by the Helpdesk and/or Line Manager.
To perform day to day painting, decorating and minor make good repairs on the Trust's assets.
To undertake planned painting and decorating work in accordance with competencies and training such as the following examples:
Internal and external painting (walls, ceilings, woodwork and metalwork
Surface preparation including filling, sanding and priming
Application of specialist finishes for clinical environments (e.g. low VOC and antimicrobial paints) where required
Wallpaper application and removal
To carry out reactive painting and minor repair work in accordance with competencies and training such as the following examples:
Touch up and patch repair following building works or minor damage.
Application of protective coatings to surfaces affected by moisture or wear.
Minor plaster patching and surface make good ahead of redecoration.

Job responsibilitiesTo interpret and work from appropriate instructions, drawings and specifications.
Ability to work in a multi task environment.
Ensure the security of all plant, equipment and buildings under the jurisdiction of the Maintenance Department. Make sure that any work areas are secure when working.
Ensure that plant rooms are locked at all times.
To use all relevant tools and equipment in accordance with manufacturers instructions and in compliance with health and safety guidelines, as appropriate.
Report any building defects, surface damage or hazards identified during work to the Helpdesk and Line Manager.
To assist the Estates Manager in the fulfilment of the departments aims and objectives.
Working within defined technical parameters (HTMs).
Prioritise own workload. Discuss any work related issues with Line Manager.
To participate in appropriate training courses or updates in accordance with mandatory requirements and individual Personal Development Plans.
In conjunction with your Line Manager ensure that your Mandatory Training and PADs are kept up to date in line with Trust Policies and Procedures.
You will also undertake additional tasks delegated by your Team Leader.
To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested by Management
Person Specification Qualifications- Educated to GCSE standard C or above (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent technical qualification)
- Capable of climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights and in confined spaces
- Carry out manual handling tasks
- IT skills, use of mobile devices used in conjunction with the delivery of estates maintenance
- Good communication skills both written and verbal at all levels of authority
- Adaptable to change as required
- Able to work in a well in a team and as a lone worker
- Ability to communicate with customers in a polite and professional manner
- Ability to solve small scale maintenance problems alone
- Skilled in painting and decorating, including surface preparation, application of paints and decorative finishes
- In depth knowledge of Health and Safety at Work act and Approved Codes of Practice and current regulations in relation to own discipline
- A minimum of 5 years experience of working in an NHS estates and facilities organisation or similar
- Risk Assessments knowledge
