Job Description
Paediatric Surgical / Outpatients Staff Nurse

We are recruiting a paediatric nurse to support our paediatric outpatient clinics at Oldham and Rochdale, as well as our elective paediatric surgical lists within our 'Walk in Walk out' day case theatre.

As part of our outpatient and 'Walk in Walk out' nursing team, you will deliver high quality, patient focused care to children and families. This role involves Monday Friday shifts, covering both paediatric outpatient and day case surgery duties, giving you the opportunity to develop and utilise skills across a variety of clinical settings.

You will receive a bespoke four week induction programme and access to dedicated paediatric training days and an individual development plan to support your growth.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver child and family focused pre and post operative care in paediatric outpatient and day case surgery settings.
  • Provide continuity of care from reception through to post operative recovery.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives across paediatric outpatient and surgical services.
  • Collab orate with multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons, anaesthetists, play specialists, and educators.
  • Support paediatric surgical patients during recovery and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold patient safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Registered Children's Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Evidence of involvement in teaching or mentoring.
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
  • Demonstrates evidence based clinical knowledge.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Communicates succinctly, clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective team member.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Uses reflective practice to improve patient care standards.
  • Knowledge of current paediatric practices.
  • Experience with clinical systems.
  • Post registration paediatric nursing experience.
  • Evidence of completion of surgical nursing CPD.
  • Experience with paediatric surgical patients.
  • Experience in a paediatric outpatient setting.
Eligibility

Applicants must hold a current NMC PIN or be enrolled on a course and expect to receive a full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. A current NMC PRN PIN is not acceptable. International nurses who have not yet completed all competencies to receive a full NMC PIN are not eligible until the OSCE programme resumes.
