Hearingand Balance Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals are looking for a Band 5Audiologist who would like to train into paediatrics. This will initiallystart as a band 5 role and then upon successful completion of your traininginto paediatrics it will become a band 6 role. Based in a newly developeddepartment at Seacroft Hospital just outside Leeds City Centre the Hearingand Balance Service provides modern facilities and a comprehensive range ofservices, across multiple sites for patients of all ages includingimplantable devices and vestibular assessments. Due to the range of servicesprovided, opportunities exist for training and development into specialistareas and staff can be supported through the Higher Training Scheme.

Main duties of the jobThepost holder will work within a multidisciplinary team across multiple sitesto provide a comprehensive paediatric diagnostic and habilitation service forchildren & their families with hearing difficulties. The paediatric teamwork as autonomous practioners within the service and are to be able todevelop, lead improvements, maximising the benefit for patients. You will beperforming a wide range of diagnostic testing on all patient groups, inaddition to providing highly effective habilitation and on-going maintenancecare plans for patients with complex hearing losses, tinnitus, patients withBone Anchored Hearing Aids, ENT patients and Oncology patients. There isscope to support the department in many exciting initiatives and develop theservice with continuous improvement cycles. The department are also workingtowards IQIPs accreditation

Job responsibilitiesThepost holder works in close co-operation with the Team Leaders in the deliveryof day to day services and the personal development of specialisation.
Thepost-holder will:
Aftertraining undertake a senior but generalist role within the Hearing &Balance Centre.
Undertakea broad range of service provision with elements of routine and non- routinetasks within the department.
Withtraining develop specialist skills in sub-specialist area/s of service thatreflect key elements of non- routine tasks.
Receivethe personal development support of the relevant Team Leader/s insub-specialising.
Thepost-holder will:
Takesupervisory responsibility for delegated performance management for staffgrades, below this grade, including trainees on clinical placement.
Ensuretimely feedback to Team leaders on the use of consumable resources and thestatus of equipment following stage A checks, problem evaluating servicedelivery issues, associated with equipment downtime.
Takeresponsibility for the delivery of an episode of clinical care to individualpatients and manage the care plan effectively.
Provideday to day advice to junior staff on basic clinical problem management.
Person Specification Experience- Experience of working within a clinical setting e.g. during the degree programme
- BSc (Hons) Audiology from an accredited University OR Equivalent qualifications (until 2005).
- Be registered with an appropriate registration body
