Reporting into our Head of Packaging Innovation, this role is essential in creating and developing innovative packaging solutions for our skincare and makeup products, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of functionality and premium aesthetics. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of packaging including materials, design principles, and the unique needs of the beauty industry.

The Role

Your daily to-dos might look like this:

  • Alongside our other Packaging Manager, lead the development of innovative packaging concepts for skincare and makeup products, working closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, Brand, Project Management, etc.).
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to select appropriate materials and technologies that align with the brand's goals and packaging performance standards.
  • Oversee the design, testing, and execution of packaging prototypes, ensuring that all packaging meets aesthetic, functional, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure packaging is efficient for production, cost-effective, and scalable while maintaining quality and sustainability standards.
  • Monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and consumer preferences to drive forward-thinking packaging solutions.
  • Conduct packaging performance tests, including compatibility, decoration and homologation (e.g., leakage, torque, usage).
  • Understand and approve technical drawings for primary packaging components, standard and tooled.
  • Understand the process of developing new tooling including the sign off of technical drawings, T1-T3 sign off for industrialisation.
  • Provide technical support and problem-solving expertise during the production and scale-up process.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives by developing eco-friendly packaging solutions and identifying opportunities for reducing packaging waste.
  • Work closely with the marketing and creative teams to ensure packaging aligns with the brand identity and enhances the consumer experience.

Requirements

These skills will help you go far in this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in packaging development, with a focus on beauty, skincare, or cosmetics.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, glass, paper, metals, etc.) and their application in the beauty industry.
  • Experience with sustainable packaging practices and familiarity with industry regulations related to beauty products.
  • Technical experience with tooling of componentary.
  • Live experience of line trials and production expectations.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for developing innovative and consumer-centric packaging solutions.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, extrusion, and assembly.
