About the RoleWorking within Own Brand Personal Care, you will seek to maximize sales and profit for your categories. You will develop new products and review the existing assortment, working alongside the merchandising team to analyze performance. You will own supplier relationships as well as relationships with the branded buying teams for your category to help you develop and implement strategic plans. You will work closely with the design & technical teams to ensure all products delight our customers and help us achieve sustainability and CSR goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement and deliver category plans including range reviews, promotions, pricing and stock consistent with overall commercial strategy and financial objectives.
- Identify and implement new product opportunities that are competitively priced, commercially viable and meet customer needs, driving sales and profitability.
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of promotions, taking appropriate action where necessary and sharing best practice with peers and stakeholders.
- Manage and review pricing, ensuring it is competitive and maximizes profitability within Company pricing strategy.
- Partner with the Merchandising team to agree merchandising strategy that delivers the right range in the right store; ensuring availability and controlling slow moving stock.
- Work with Supply Chain to ensure base sales and promotional forecasts are adhered to, while maintaining in store availability to meet customer needs.
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop and implement marketing promotion plans relevant to category, adhering to legislation and brand guidelines, and driving footfall and profitable sales.
- Develop effective internal working relationships with cross functional team members to support and enhance category objectives and performance.
- Apply appropriate negotiation strategies to attain the best terms for the category and business.
- Use industry knowledge and market activity to deliver increased category performance objectives.
- Monitor market changes and impact on potential negotiations.
- Take responsibility for personal and professional development.

- Minimum 5 years' experience as a buyer in a retail environment (Grocer, Fragrance, Healthcare).
- Product development experience (own brand buying background preferred).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Very strong commercial awareness and creative skills.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Decisive and able to work in a super fast paced environment.
- Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to cope under pressure.
