At Coastland College, we are looking for a passionate, skilled and motivated Outdoor Course Tutor / Teacher to join our dynamic Outdoor Adventure team. Hours: 37 per week
What You'll Be Doing- Deliver outstanding practical and classroom based teaching in outdoor adventure and sport activities.
- Lead progressive outdoor programmes in land and water based disciplines.
- Prepare high quality lesson plans, schemes of work and assessments.
- Support learners with pastoral care, progress monitoring, attendance, and achievement.
- Organise trips, visits, expeditions and enrichment opportunities.
- Contribute to course leadership, curriculum development and self assessment.
- Work collaboratively with the wider department and act as a positive role model for young people.
- Maintain high levels of safety, professionalism and safeguarding throughout your work.
Essential:
- A range of National Governing Body outdoor qualifications (e.g., Walking, Climbing, Paddlesports, Mountain Bike).
- Experience teaching or instructing young people (16+).
- Excellent practical delivery skills across a variety of outdoor activities.
- Strong organisational, communication and administrative skills.
- Ability to work independently with groups on or off site.
- English & Maths at Level 2.
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to work towards).
- Teaching qualification at Level 5+ (or willingness to work towards).
- A commitment to high standards in Health & Safety.
- Full UK driving licence with business insurance.
Desirable:
- Assessor/Verifier qualifications.
- Fitness or vocational teaching qualifications.
- Military/cadet or public services teaching background.
- Additional activity qualifications (e.g., Ropes Course, Archery, Sailing/Safety Boat, D1 Minibus).
