At Coastland College, we are looking for a passionate, skilled and motivated Outdoor Course Tutor / Teacher to join our dynamic Outdoor Adventure team. Hours: 37 per week

What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver outstanding practical and classroom based teaching in outdoor adventure and sport activities.
  • Lead progressive outdoor programmes in land and water based disciplines.
  • Prepare high quality lesson plans, schemes of work and assessments.
  • Support learners with pastoral care, progress monitoring, attendance, and achievement.
  • Organise trips, visits, expeditions and enrichment opportunities.
  • Contribute to course leadership, curriculum development and self assessment.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider department and act as a positive role model for young people.
  • Maintain high levels of safety, professionalism and safeguarding throughout your work.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • A range of National Governing Body outdoor qualifications (e.g., Walking, Climbing, Paddlesports, Mountain Bike).
  • Experience teaching or instructing young people (16+).
  • Excellent practical delivery skills across a variety of outdoor activities.
  • Strong organisational, communication and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently with groups on or off site.
  • English & Maths at Level 2.
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to work towards).
  • Teaching qualification at Level 5+ (or willingness to work towards).
  • A commitment to high standards in Health & Safety.
  • Full UK driving licence with business insurance.

Desirable:

  • Assessor/Verifier qualifications.
  • Fitness or vocational teaching qualifications.
  • Military/cadet or public services teaching background.
  • Additional activity qualifications (e.g., Ropes Course, Archery, Sailing/Safety Boat, D1 Minibus).
