OT Network Engineer - 6 months - Prestwick (Scotland)

We are seeking an experienced IT/OT Onsite Network Engineer to support the delivery of secure network and operational technology (OT) infrastructure projects within a manufacturing environment. This role involves hands-on deployment, configuration, and management of network and security systems, ensuring compliance with IT/OT security standards and maintaining operational continuity across site infrastructure.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Digital Technology, Cybersecurity, and Operations teams, as well as third-party suppliers, to implement robust IT/OT connectivity and security solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support delivery of IT/OT network and security projects for industrial environments.
• Configure and maintain Firewalls, Switches, Routers, and SD-WAN solutions.
• Conduct OT/IT asset discovery, documentation, and life cycle management.
• Liaise with maintenance, quality, and operations teams on secure connectivity initiatives.
• Oversee hardware procurement and on-site installations (eg, Switches, network taps).
• Perform vulnerability management, malware scanning, and patching on OT systems.
• Deploy and manage remote access, monitoring, and backup solutions.
• Ensure compliance with IT/OT security policies, including removable media and access controls.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation and audit readiness.
• Provide on-call support for priority incidents as required.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Strong knowledge of network security configuration, VLANs, Switches, and network taps.
• Experience configuring Check Point Firewalls, Cisco Switches/Routers, and SD-WAN.
• Familiarity with secure industrial protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, SMB).
• Expertise in LAN/WAN design, routing protocols, and microsegmentation.
• Proven experience in IT/OT integration within manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Hands-on deployment of OT business enablement tools (Remote Access, File Transfer, Backups).
• Certifications: CCNA/CCNP or CompTIA Network+ (OT SANS or cloud experience desirable).
• Excellent documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Desirable:

• 10+ years' experience working within IT/OT environments.
• Experience with OT assets such as HMIs, PLCs, sensors, inspection systems, and 3D printers.
• Exposure to edge and IoT solutions such as AWS Storage Gateway, Historian, and OpsVision.

• Day Rate: £300 Per Day - £350 Per Day
