Hours of Work are between Monday - Friday 0730 - 1730

Fixed term full-time contract to cover parental leave, through to March 2026

Salary is as per PSA AHS&T SECA, based on experience

About the role

We have a fixed-term full-time opportunity for an Orthoptist to cover parental leave for up to 12 months at Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand. The role involves paediatric and adult orthoptic investigation, diagnosis, and management, including Visual Fields, cataract pre-assessments, IOL Master, ultrasound biometry, corneal topography, fundal and anterior segment photography, and general ophthalmic clinic duties.

We seek a recent graduate or experienced Orthoptist with good clinical knowledge, experience with ophthalmic technical equipment, efficient work practices, and strong interpersonal skills.

Christchurch Hospital services a large area of New Zealand's South Island, near ski fields and outdoor attractions. You will join a team of Registered Nurses, Ophthalmic Assistants, Orthoptists, Optometrists, and Ophthalmic Technicians, working closely with highly skilled Ophthalmologists specialized in Paediatrics and Neuro-ophthalmology.

About You

You will have experience with a wide range of technical equipment, facilitating smooth integration into our busy team. The role involves assessments for paediatric and adult strabismus, cataracts, IOL master, ultrasound biometry, Visual Fields (Goldmann and Humphrey), corneal topography (Pentacam), OCT, Optos, and general ophthalmic duties, including auditing and research.

This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week.
