Job Description

Join the Elective Orthopaedic Theatre team at Pinderfields Hospital as a senior practitioner. This role offers a chance to advance your orthopaedic theatre career in a supportive and forward thinking environment.

Main duties of the job
  • Creates, maintains and enhances effective working relationships.
  • Undertakes senior responsibility in the absence of the band 7 practitioner.
  • Organises the clinical workload to ensure that staff are competent and confident to care for the needs of patients.
  • Contributes to the identification of the skill and manpower requirement of the team, adopting flexible working practices.
  • Ensures effective delegation in line with the capabilities and competencies of the staff delegated to.
  • Participates in the monitoring and management of sickness/absence.
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff.
Qualifications
  • RGN/RODP qualification.
  • Mentor/Assessor qualification at honours level or equivalent.
Experience
  • Significant post registration experience within theatres / PACU.
Knowledge and Awareness
  • Essential knowledge of your own speciality and current issues in health care.
  • An understanding of skills and knowledge required to develop yourself and team members.
  • Continued professional development.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of budget management.
  • Awareness of own limitations.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work within the peri operative team and organise and prioritise own and others' workload.
  • IT literate.
  • Proficient organisational skills.
  • Ability to relate to all staff, patients and carers in a confident manner, demonstrating good listening and an ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate others.
  • Ability to demonstrate evidence based practice.
  • Effective problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrates clear direction and leadership for the peri operative team with regards to the professional dimensions of care.
  • Demonstrates diplomacy and the ability to deal with colleagues, patients and carers in a way that avoids conflict.
  • Recognises areas of interpersonal conflict and develops a proactive stance in resolving issues.
  • Ability to promote a secure environment for staff, patients and carers.
