Job Description:

McDonald's offers an exciting opportunity for a Director, Organizational Design role based in the United Kingdom. You will lead organizational design and operating model projects across two key business segments: Internationally Operated Markets (IOM) and International Developmental Licensee Markets (IDL). Your role will involve developing organizational capabilities to support business strategy execution. This position reports to the Senior Director, Organizational Design, and is part of the Global Organizational Design Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in organizational design, operating models, and a data-driven approach to program execution.

Responsibilities:

Following McDonald's policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include:

Organizational Design & Implementation:
  • Lead organizational design and operating model projects, developing capabilities and structures to support business strategy.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, navigating ambiguity, balancing priorities, and driving alignment.
  • Deliver recommendations on structure, roles, decision rights, interfaces, forums, etc., with supporting discussion materials, design artifacts, and implementation plans.
  • Provide expertise on key organizational design aspects, including capability taxonomies, sizing, spans of control, and reporting layers.
  • Serve as People Manager for Manager, Organizational Design based in the US.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Partnerships:
  • Drive organizational transformation across IOM/IDL segments, translating strategic priorities into roles, processes, and structures.
  • Partner with senior leadership and HR Business Partners on organizational design practices and participate in leadership forums.
  • Collaborate with People Partners to enhance organizational effectiveness and provide strategic input.
Governance, Metrics, and Innovation:
  • Promote effective resource investment and organizational efficiency.
  • Contribute to governance processes and report on organization metrics.
  • Stay informed on trends and innovations in organization effectiveness, introducing new designs, tools, and methods to support growth.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Design, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in Human Resources or Organizational Design with strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of organizational design trends, best practices, and HR regulations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate globally and manage diverse teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, consulting, and project management skills.
  • High emotional intelligence, business acumen, and a mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead talent strategies in complex transformations.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in large, complex projects; familiarity with agile practices is a plus.
  • Experience in a large consultancy practice is a significant plus.
