Optimization Engineer
Posted 8 hours 19 minutes ago by Barrington James
You will help design, implement, and scale numerical optimization methods to tackle complex, high-dimensional engineering problems. Working alongside physicists, software engineers, and hardware teams, you'll develop high-performance solutions that address real-world challenges in advanced manufacturing.
The job:
- Create, put into practice, and improve extensive nonlinear optimization techniques for intricate engineering systems.
- Convert technical difficulties and physical phenomena into mathematical optimization problems with precise goals and limitations.
- Use the proper modeling languages or APIs to interface with solver libraries like IPOPT or internal tools. Participate in the development and possible open-sourcing of the internal infrastructure for NLP solvers.
- Write scientific code in C++, Python, or Julia that is clear, efficient, and maintainable.
- Investigate and use parallel computing or GPU-based computing strategies to speed up computationally demanding optimization processes.
- Optimize and debug processes for stability, speed, and numerical correctness under real-world deployment scenarios.
- Create thorough test cases and carry out validation to guarantee the precision and resilience of optimization processes.
Requirements:
- A doctorate or master's degree in computer science, engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a similar technological discipline.
- Strong command of numerical techniques, constraint handling, and nonlinear optimization.
- Practical knowledge of large-scale optimization issues in simulated or real-world systems.
- Knowledge of least-squares optimization techniques and how they are used in practice.
- Knowledge of at least one scientific programming language, such as C++, Python, or Julia.
- Strong mathematical background in numerical analysis, calculus, and linear algebra.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and solve nonlinear optimization issues in academic, industry, or research contexts.
