The Role

To act as the hub for a Lanarkshire-wide service which has been centralised at Hairmyres Hospital. It is a key post in complex communications chains and plays a critical role in the efficient and effective use of service resources in order to deliver what are extremely challenging targets.

Responsibilities
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary and complex departmental rota.
  • Promote and ensure a high standard of patient scheduling within a centralised service.
  • Assist in the provision of administrative support of external waiting list initiatives; insourcing and outsourcing.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of NHSL systems to include Trakcare, Clinical Portal, SCI-Gateway, Milan and Microsoft packages.
  • Coordination of community glaucoma service which involves overseeing the safe discharge of patients from secondary care into a community setting.
  • Responsible for analysis and validation of outpatient elective waiting lists.
  • Deal with telephone and face-to-face enquiries from all staff groups, patients, relatives, carers, providing information, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of waiting lists and Waiting Times Targets to ensure clinics are booked effectively and sessions utilised to capacity.
What You'll Bring
  • HNC/SVQ III in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Medical Records experience, preferably within Ophthalmology.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Datix, and additional Software Systems, particularly PMS and ORMIS.
  • Must be able to prioritise a heavy workload and work autonomously.
Working Hours and Pay

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro ratio basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
