An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Urgent Eye Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for a Band 6 registered nurse to work within a team of dedicated urgent eye clinic triage nurses.
This is a 32 hour per week permanent role.
Applicants must have had recent Band 5 experience or above within an ophthalmic setting and have a good understanding of a variety of ophthalmic conditions.
Although the role will predominantly be based in the Urgent Eye Clinic at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital there will be some rotation into Ophthalmology Outpatients and rotational weekends approximately one every eight weekends (Saturday 08 00 and Sunday 09 00).
Main duties of the job
- Function as a competent clinical practitioner within the Urgent Eye Clinic and General Ophthalmology Out patients.
- Deliver direct patient care using advanced ophthalmic nursing skills.
- Assess, treat, plan and discharge patients who meet criteria for a nurse led clinic under indirect supervision from an Ophthalmologist within the UEC.
- Be responsible for the safe delivery of clinical care during your span of duty.
- Ensure efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to the client group.
- Deputise for senior sisters in their absence, driving forward evidence based practice and supervising staff and policies operating within your clinical area.
- Perform ophthalmic triage effectively.
- Work in conjunction with the ophthalmology medical team on a daily basis.
- Work a flexible shift pattern 8 6 which includes weekends to meet the needs of the service.
