THE ROLE: Operations Manager Nights

Operations Manager Nights: A vital role in the success story of our UK managed transport solution on behalf of our blue chip customer base. In this role you must demonstrate a relentless pursuit of profitable, customer centric and safe execution of our daily plan, managing a national team of transport professionals. High standards of professional operation and legal compliance are demanded and rewarded.

SHIFT INFORMATION:

Monday to Friday - 8 hour shift night operation.

WHERE YOU WILL BE BASED:

You will be based at our National Operations Centre situated in Ashby de la Zouch (LE65 1JR).

WHAT WILL BE YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITES?
  • Manage a national team of operators to execute both our fleet Daily Plan and our 4PL daily plan throughout night shifts across 7 days per week.
  • Using cutting edge technology capabilities monitor live execution progress across all own fleet and carrier partner resources.
  • Ensure proactive management of plan execution non conformance to ensure successful delivery performance on behalf of our customers. Identify, fix and monitor.
  • Ensure all drivers adhere to company policies, traffic regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Provide management of all transport related issues to ensure maintenance issues recorded and actioned in advance of dayshift handover.
  • Maintain accurate transport records including delivery logs, vehicle checks, and incident reports.
  • Proactively manage driver issues including sickness and non attendance in order to protect customer service performance.
  • Communicate with warehouse and customer service teams to ensure smooth handovers between shifts.
  • Carry out route planning as required to address operational execution issues overnight to ensure customer service requirements are met.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Proven experience in road transport operations in UK across planning and execution.
  • Clear evidence of people management skills in team environment across a large scale and complex operation.
  • Experience in the FMCG sector demonstrating a clear understanding of the importance of achieving customer KPI performance.
  • Good understanding of road transport regulations, health & safety standards, and driver compliance.
  • Ability to work under pressure with experience of navigating high pressure adapt and overcome situations.
  • Experience of working within set cost and revenue targets to manage daily execution needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS?
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) - an advantage.
  • People management training and further vocational qualifications.
  • Experience of latest technology including cutting edge TMS, vehicle tracking & in cab telematics/camera and communication systems.
  • First Aid certification or Health & Safety training.
