Job Description

We are recruiting an Operations Manager for an exciting opportunity with genuine long-term career progression. This is a pivotal role for an ambitious, commercially minded individual who is looking to make a real impact within a growing manufacturing business.

Working closely with the existing leadership team, you will initially learn and support the day-to-day running of the operation before progressively taking ownership of key responsibilities as the business continues to evolve. This role offers a potential pathway into senior leadership over the next 3-5 years, making it ideal for someone who is eager to develop their career whilst helping to shape the future of the business.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, excellent organisational skills, and the confidence to manage multiple priorities while ensuring projects progress efficiently from enquiry through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational activities of the business
  • Prepare accurate and commercially competitive customer quotations
  • Ensure all job requirements are clearly communicated to the Production Manager, enabling efficient production planning and delivery
  • Coordinate materials, suppliers, transport, and logistics to meet customer deadlines
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget
  • Identify operational issues early and implement effective solutions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Provide clear communication regarding quotations, lead times, project progress, and deliveries
  • Support the continued development of online sales and e-commerce activities
  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing systems, processes, and operational efficiencies
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team to support business growth and integration
The Candidate
  • Previous experience in a management role within manufacturing, ideally in an owner/managed or SME business.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes ideally gained withing plastics, metal, wood, or similar fabrication environments.
  • Commercially aware with experience preparing quotations and costing work
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confident decision-maker with a proactive and solutions-focused approach
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering outstanding service
