Recruit4staff is representing a well established engineering manufacturer in their search for an Operations Manager to work in Bolton.

Job Details
  • Pay: Up to £65,000 per annum
  • Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week. 8.30-5 Mon Thurs, 8.30-2.30 Fri.
  • Duration: Permanent
  • Benefits: Standard pension, 24 days holiday + Bank Holidays, progression opportunity to Operations Director
Job Role

The Operations Manager will take responsibility for the day to day leadership of manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, stock control and operational performance across the business. The Operations Manager will work closely with senior leadership teams to ensure production targets, labour efficiencies and operational objectives are achieved in line with company strategy.

The Operations Manager will oversee production planning, labour resource management, process improvements, engineering compliance and supply chain collaboration. Duties will also include working closely with Purchasing, R&D, Quality and Technical departments to support new product introductions, improve manufacturing methods and drive operational efficiencies across the site.

This full site based Operations Manager role offers the opportunity to contribute to long term operational strategy and future progression into an Operations Director position.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
  • Previous senior operations leadership experience within manufacturing or engineering
  • Previous experience improving processes and efficiencies
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Strong production planning and labour management experienceExcellent communication and cross functional leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and operational compliance
Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
  • A degree in Engineering or similar would be advantageous
  • Health & Safety related qualifications
  • Continuous Improvement qualifications
  • Quality related qualification/training

Job Role

The Workshop Manager will oversee all shop floor manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality driven production. Acting as a hands on leader, the Workshop Manager will be responsible for developing and executing fabrication schedules, managing workflows, and ensuring production targets, quality standards and budgets are consistently met.

The Workshop Manager will lead daily fabrication activities including welding, cutting, and assembly, while also focusing on improving productivity, reducing waste and minimising environmental impact.

The Workshop Manager will train, coach and supervise fabrication staff, driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency across the workshop.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or in a similar role managing fabrication or engineering shop floor teams
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, technical drawings, welding techniques and quality control standards (ISO)
  • Experience working with mild steel and stainless steel fabrication, including TIG and MIG welding
  • Knowledge of pipework, vessels and structural steel fabrication
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of improving team performance
  • Good understanding of health & safety regulations and safe workshop practices
Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
  • Experience within chemical, food processing, hygienic or other regulated industries
  • Time served fabricator/welder with previous MIG and TIG coding
  • Welding inspection qualifications
  • Health & Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH
