Job Description
Operations Manager 
An environmentally friendly focused packaging materials provider is looking to expand its team. The Operations Manager will be accountable for the safe and efficient operation of all activities across the site, from material preparation through to dispatch, including Health and Safety and Quality. This includes Customer Service and Administration.
Responsibilities- Management, support, motivation and development of all direct reports, including Shift Supervision, Team Leaders, material preparation staff, process technicians, production operators, 2nd operations, warehouse and logistics.
- Work in conjunction with the Engineering/Technical Manager to improve machine equipment safety, utilisation and efficiencies.
- Ensure efficient production planning and logistics to ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining optimum stock levels.
- Support the General Manager with specific focus on the performance of all elements within the plant, its systems and procedures, and ensure they are regularly reviewed to deliver safe, efficient and audit ready operations.
- Drive year on year performance improvements against key metrics.
- Proven experience in a similar role (5-10 years).
- Strong hands on management experience.
- Ability to develop, lead and motivate others.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- ERP knowledge.
- QA process knowledge.
- Health and Safety knowledge.
- Highly computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Experience of making sound judgement under pressure.
- Team player.
- Systematic with high attention to detail.
- Career has been developed within a manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical or process engineering background that reinforces extensive know how of low margin, high volume moulding and assembly.
- Ability to lead and promote Lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Working knowledge of machinery safety regulations and legislation.
- Ability to make decisions that maximise plant output and efficiency while balancing safety, product quality and cost.
- Understanding of financial information.
