North Devon Electronics (NDE) is a part of the Goonvean Group, which is an investor for growing companies, operating across a diverse set of industries. The Group employs approximately 500 staff across 16 sites within the UK. NDE is positioned for significant growth following investments into their 3 sites.

Job Description

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the MD and senior leadership to develop and execute the operational strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable operational plans, associated KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Provide regular reporting to the MD on operational performance, quality and opportunities.

Operational Oversight

  • Lead and oversee daily operations across 3 sites, with multiple departments such as production, customer service and quality control.
  • Develop and implement efficient systems, processes, and policies to improve productivity and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, legal regulations, and internal policies.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Manage, mentor, and develop multi-site teams and functional heads.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, performance excellence, and CI
  • Champion employee engagement and effective change management practices.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost control, both for operational expenses and capex requirements
  • Identify areas to improve cost-efficiency without compromising service or quality.

Risk & Quality Management

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor operational risks, production quality and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Establish systems for monitoring quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity.
The Successful Applicant

We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Operations Director. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, process improvement, and organisational skills to drive efficiency, quality, and growth.

  • Proven experience (7+ years) in a senior operations role within a growing or complex organisation.
  • Strong leadership, people management, and organisational development skills.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency, process optimisation, and change initiatives.
  • Commercial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial performance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skill
  • Degree in Business, Operations Management, or related field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
