Job Description
Position Overview 
Principal, Operational Risk - responsible for leading the Operational Risk Management (ORM) program in London while supporting EMEA and global initiatives. The role collaborates to deliver strategic, innovative solutions using risk frameworks, data analytics (including AI) and extensive risk management experience.
Responsibilities- Risk Program Oversight: Oversee adherence to Apollo's operational risk management framework within London and across EMEA, including governance of the Risk and Control Inventory (RCI), Incident Management, Issue Management, Risk Assessment and Key Risk Indicator Management. Ensure regular reviews of risk procedures and standards aligned with firm objectives, regulatory standards and client expectations; report to Head of ORM and dotted line to Regional COO; prioritise and deliver on planned work; represent key messages to Risk Forums/Committees and internal stakeholders.
- Risk Management Activity Support: Lead administrative and governance activities of the ORM team, coordinate local or regional risk forums, meeting agendas, policy/procedure reviews, and contribute to risk related client or prospect due diligence meetings and questionnaires.
- Risk Strategy & Execution Support: Support the Head of ORM in executing the Target Operating Model (TOM), contribute to defining strategic objectives and success measures, develop risk assessment pipelines, manage prioritisation of work, risk reporting and governance. Develop and drive core risk analytics in collaboration with business partners and the COO community.
- Develop & Maintain Risk Training Program: Assist in enhancing the risk training program to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- 15+ years of experience in financial services (preferably in asset management, credit or private equity), risk management, internal controls or organisational transformation initiatives.
- Outstanding leadership skills and proven ability to engage and influence senior business leaders, earning trust as a strategic partner and advisor.
- Proactive, organized self starter with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail, advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, and GRC tools (e.g., Archer).
- Critical thinker with strong quantitative and analytical skills, capable of communicating ideas clearly both orally and in writing.
- Change cultivator with a strong risk and technology background, focused on automation and process improvements.
- Experience implementing internal capital and risk assessment (ICARA) processes for an asset management firm is a plus.
- Experience in Enterprise Risk or other risk areas such as market or credit risk is a positive.
- Confidence in using technology, including AI, to analyze big data and drive quick insights.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
