Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland's seven regional transport partnerships. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, manages large transport infrastructure projects and is responsible for delivery of a long-term multi-modal transport strategy for the West of Scotland.
Having upgraded our Subway stations and introduced a new fleet as part of our Subway Modernisation Project, our next major milestone will be transitioning operations to our new state of the art Operational Control Centre.
About the role
We have a great opportunity to join our Subway Operations Team. The Operational Control Centre (OCC) Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient and customer-focused operation of the subway by supervising the OCC team on a shift basis. They will be responsible for ensuring shift coverage across all OCC functions and creating a collaborate, positive, supportive environment to ensure performance and service level targets are achieved. They will perform immediate and tactical actions, co-ordinate and communication with other departments and external agencies to manage and minimise the impact of emergencies and incidents. The OCC Supervisor will support the OCC team with the delivery of new systems embedded within the subway modernisation project and take a proactive role in the provision of the Subway service.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of risk assessment and incident management and a good understanding of customer service principles. An in-depth understanding of train operating principles and railway Rules, Regulations and Emergency Procedures are desirable. An understanding of the safety critical requirements of a light railway system and multiple rail control software are also desirable. Experience of working at a supervisory or direct line management level and within an Operational Control Centre liaising with senior staff. You will have experience of working in a pressurised and reactive environment. You will have strong problem-solving, organisational and planning skills alongside strong communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be a highly motivated individual and contribute positively to improve ways of working and embrace evolving changes and technologies.
You will be educated to standard grade level in English, Maths and Arithmetic or equivalent. A transport industry professional qualification is desirable.
Full time hours will be 35 hours per week working a 5/7 shift pattern. The nature of this role may require you to work outwith normal office hours on occasion to support the operational requirements.
You will be based at the Operational Control Centre, Robert Street, Glasgow.
