Job Description

We are the final stage for complaints about the NHS in England and public services delivered by the UK Government. We look into complaints where someone believes there has been injustice or hardship because an organisation has not acted properly or fairly or has given a poor service and not put things right.

Our service is free for everyone.

About the role

This role is seeking candidates who feel strongly about tackling injustice in society. You need a proven track record of managing and motivating a team to produce high-quality casework through coaching and staff development, and be prepared to take responsibility for the delivery of casework decisions. You will have experience in casework decision-making, including weighing evidence to reach fair and impartial decisions, and effectively communicating those decisions to all parties involved.

You should be proficient in caseload management and capable of coaching team members. You will lead, manage, motivate, and develop a team of caseworkers to produce work in a timely and proportionate manner. Working in line with performance standards, you will ensure the accuracy and quality of decisions, with a high level of attention to detail. Providing dynamic leadership, you will inspire your team and ensure excellent customer service.

Reporting to an Assistant Director of Casework, you will lead one of our casework teams, working collaboratively with other Operational Casework Managers to provide consistent, high-quality casework, focusing on making the right decision at the right time.

We have several opportunities across our casework areas, including teams focusing on parliamentary, health, and complex, serious complaints. We recruit based on a standard job description and will assess candidates through evaluation and interview to determine the best fit for each role.
