We're looking for a dedicated Operational and Welfare Standards Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping, reviewing, and coordinating our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all operational areas. You'll ensure our work is consistent, effective, and aligned with best practice in veterinary care, behaviour, and welfare; while also keeping us compliant with relevant legal and professional standards. This is a unique opportunity to influence how we work and help ensure every dog receives the highest level of care.
What does this role do? As an Operational and Welfare Standards Manager you will:

The ideal candidate will have experience managing operational and dog welfare standards within an animal welfare setting, with a solid understanding of legislation such as the Animal Welfare Act and Dangerous Dogs Act. You'll bring strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to translate complex information into clear guidance, and a collaborative approach to working across specialist teams. A background in behaviour, veterinary, or rehoming operations is essential, along with a commitment to high welfare standards and the mission of Dogs Trust.
What does this team do? The Professional Engagement and Welfare Policies team manage relationships with key external professional stakeholders, such as vets, police, and health care workers. They also oversee the development and review of professional standards and standard operating procedures for operations and also provide specialist behaviour input to non-operational teams across Dogs Trust, including public affairs, fundraising and comms.

- Oversee the integration of welfare, veterinary, and behavioural standards into SOPs, guidance, and training materials in collaboration with specialist teams.
- Ensure consistent communication and understanding of operational standards across teams, supporting compliance through clear guidance and engagement.
- Manage and develop the Operational and Welfare Standards team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture and ensuring consistent tone and approach in all SOPs.
