Being part of Outwood Academy City Fields is about bringing high-quality opportunities and experiences to our diverse school. We wish to employ someone who can provide meaningful engagement and help all children, staff and visitors thrive in the areas they work in.

City Fields is a multicultural school in the heart of the Wakefield community. Our school supports the local community and the wealth of opportunities our diverse background brings. Anyone wanting to take on this role should be prepared to challenge themselves to meet the needs of a diverse community.

Ofsted noted that putting "students first" guides daily actions. Leaders aim high for pupils, and staff mirror these aspirations. We hope you can join us on our journey.

We know that a great school includes an inclusive, broad and balanced curriculum, high quality teaching and learning, positive behaviours, strong pastoral support and a culture that raises standards and transforms lives. We champion innovation in all aspects of learning while developing a school-wide mindset based on mutual respect and tolerance.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Mathematics Department by delivering knowledge and skills to small groups and on a one-to-one basis, with the ability to accelerate students' understanding to support them in more regular lessons.
  • Assist in meeting the needs of the academy curriculum with flexible hours for the role, typically part-time, with potential variations through the academic year discussed during the application process.
  • Provide a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational learning experience focused on teaching for understanding and student engagement.
Qualifications
  • Hold qualified teacher status, or be a qualified HE or FE teacher; or
  • Demonstrate a track record of effective teaching; or
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with individual pupils to progress their learning; or
  • Have subject-specific knowledge.
Support and Development

You will be well supported by an experienced team of teachers and Directors as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience that focuses on teaching for understanding.

The Academy is part of the Outwood Family of Schools, offering opportunities to work and progress across several schools if desired. Staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week, with a comprehensive programme of professional development through our network of teaching schools. Our Executive Director for Maths leads Yorkshire and the Humber MathsHub, with opportunities to participate in related projects.
