The Team

Ireland's offshore grid programme is a critical national infrastructure initiative supporting the country's 2030 renewable energy targets. EirGrid, as the designated Offshore Asset Owner (OAO), is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery, readiness, and operation of offshore transmission assets. The Offshore Programme Management Office (PMO) and Offshore Phase 1 Delivery Team play a central role in coordinating this transformation, ensuring robust governance, regulatory alignment, and delivery assurance across a multi-billion euro capital programme.

The Asset Purchase Agreement (APA) and Asset Transfer Process (ATP) are central to establishing the contractual, commercial, technical and governance framework through which those assets will be diligenced, accepted and transferred.

The Opportunity

The Programme Manager, Asset Purchase Agreement & Asset Transfer will provide senior, end-to-end leadership of the APA and ATP programmes. The successful candidate will operate as the transaction lead and control tower for the transfer programme, integrating legal, commercial, financial, tax, regulatory, procurement, technical, insurance, risk, information-management and governance workstreams.

The role is intended for an established infrastructure transaction professional with the judgement, authority and credibility to lead complex negotiations, direct advisers and present recommendations to Executive and Board-level governance.

The Programme Manager will be accountable for establishing and running the integrated APA and asset transfer programme across the Phase 1 portfolio, from transaction design and negotiation through due diligence, disclosure, gateway readiness, execution and completion. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, strong transaction judgement and the ability to hold an integrated EirGrid position across competing legal, commercial, regulatory, technical and operational considerations.

The successful candidate will bring a demonstrable pedigree in large energy infrastructure procurement, acquisition or transfer transactions. Experience of the GB Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) regime, or a comparable regulated asset-transfer market, is strongly preferred. They must be capable of shaping strategy, setting decision-quality standards, challenging advisers and workstream leads, and converting complex issues into clear options, recommendations and governed decisions.

About you Essential
  • Degree-level qualification in engineering, law, finance, economics, business, quantity surveying or a related discipline, with substantial relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Senior-level experience leading major energy, utilities or infrastructure procurement, acquisition, divestment or asset-transfer transactions across the full lifecycle, from strategy and diligence through negotiation, execution and completion.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and external advisers, integrating legal, commercial, financial, regulatory, technical, operational, risk, procurement and governance workstreams.
  • Strong practical knowledge of infrastructure transaction structures, due diligence, risk allocation, contractual protections, liability frameworks, data rooms and completion mechanics.
  • Excellent commercial judgement, programme leadership and communication skills, with experience managing complex negotiations, concurrent transactions and decision-making at Executive, committee or Board level.
Desirable:
  • Experience of the GB OFTO regime or comparable regulated transmission, offshore wind, interconnector or infrastructure asset-transfer market; knowledge of offshore transmission and regulated revenue models; and/or a relevant professional qualification.
