Job Description

Medforce Healthcare Recruitment is currently recruiting a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to join the Children's Disability Network Team (CDNT) based at a Centre in Portlaoise.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist seeking to develop their paediatric and disability experience within a supportive multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work with children and young people presenting with a range of developmental, physical, sensory, and complex needs, helping them achieve greater independence and participation in everyday activities.

The Role

As part of the CDNT, you will:

  • Carry out comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for children and young people
  • Develop and implement individualised intervention plans
  • Support children with:
    • Fine and gross motor skills development
    • Sensory processing needs
    • Self-care and daily living skills
    • Play and social participation
    • School readiness and classroom participation
  • Provide recommendations regarding assistive equipment and environmental adaptations
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and community services
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and family-centred planning
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in line with professional standards
Requirements for the Occupational Therapist:
  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • CORU registration (or eligibility for registration)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Full driver's licence and access to a car is desirable
Desirable Experience for the Occupational Therapist:
  • Paediatric placements or clinical experience
  • Experience working with children with developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing difficulties, or physical disabilities
  • Knowledge of family-centred practice and disability services
