An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative registered nurse, who is ready to further develop their career by joining our Occupational Health nursing team across Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB and Cardiff and Vale UHB.

The appointed individual will be required to work independently as well as within a team, providing support for the junior team members. We will support their training and development and help them gain the necessary skills to develop their Occupational Health career.

They will actively participate in the delivery of a professional proactive Employee health and Wellbeing Service for the UHB's and external organisations.

Knowledge and/or experience of Occupational Health and an interest in all aspects of physical and mental health and well being are an integral part of this role. The ideal candidate would be able to assist in the development of the service and take a proactive approach to influence the health and wellbeing of employees.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the provision and development of a proactive Occupational Health Service for the employees of Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB and Cardiff and Vale UHB and external agencies, in accordance with the statutory requirements.

The post holder has a responsibility for the provision of specialist clinical services and to advise employees on the prevention of ill health and other aspects of work related health problems. The post holder will have continuing responsibility for assessing clinical care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating clinical care programmes in accordance with agreed policy. The post holder is expected to accept delegated responsibility for the management of day to day clinic activity.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of professional development and willingness to acquire qualification relevant to OH
  • Professional awareness and ongoing professional development
  • Good knowledge base of clinical conditions
  • Health & Safety (e.g., Nebosh or IOSH) Health Promotion, infection control qualifications
  • Member of specialist interest groups and networks locally and nationally
Experience
  • Sufficient experience working within the NHS
  • Experience of applying health & wellbeing advice
  • Experience of giving vaccinations as community or practice based nurse.
Aptitude and Abilities
  • Expanded clinical nursing skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on own Initiative Effective organisational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure - resilient
  • Good IT and keyboard skills
  • Highly motivated

  • Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are Desirable for this Role.
