Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, innovative, flexible nurse with management qualities and excellent communication skills.
Leadership is also a key requirement of this position and you will be expected to work closely with your Ward Manager in the running of the unit, caring directly for patients and being a senior point of reassurance for the whole team and the patients in our care.
Promote high standards of professional practice and high quality care delivery within Trust and Departmental policies, protocols and guidelines.
In conjunction with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, be responsible for the development and review of competencies, protocols and Care Pathways within the department.
Facilitate the development of junior nursing staff.

Person Specification Qualification/Training- Registered nurse on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register
- Evidence of professional development and commitment to life long learning
- Ability to produce personal professional portfolio
- Demonstrable experience as a registered nurse at Band 5
- Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings with patients, relatives, carers, senior leaders and other members of staff of varying levels of understanding
- Evidence of effective leadership
- Evidence of excellent and motivational teaching skills
- Evidence of effective team working skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work to deadlines in a highly pressurised environment
- Ability to use sound judgement skills and when to escape issues and problems
- Excellent knowledge of speciality and common conditions/ treatments
- Demonstrable understanding of professional nursing issues.
- Understanding of skill mix and workload patterns
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation
- Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion
