Job Description
This role is responsible for leading clinical operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The post holder oversees staffing, rota management, and team development across nursing and sonography services, while supporting budget control and service efficiency. They play a key role in enhancing patient experience, managing complex situations, and ensuring accurate clinical reporting. The role also involves driving quality improvement through SOP development and collaboration with the Quality Management team. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, alongside experience in healthcare management, to support continuous service improvement and effective multidisciplinary team working.

Main duties of the job Key Responsibilities:

Oversee patient throughput across the clinic and satellite services

Ensure all treatments comply with HFEA requirements

Maintain appropriate staffing levels and competence in nursing and sonography teams

Manage staff allocation, rotas, and support budget planning and control

Optimise patient management and service delivery

Develop processes to enhance patient experience

Manage non-standard situations and ensure holistic, best practice care

Ensure equipment availability and provide clear information for informed consent

Maintain accurate clinical records in line with regulations

Support clinic strategy through data collection, reporting, and performance analysis

Ensure effective communication with colleagues, patients, and suppliers

Build supplier relationships, support clinical trials, and promote clinic reputation

Develop and update SOPs and support the Quality Management System

Lead recruitment, performance management, CPD, and team meetings

Support staff training, supervision, and participation in patient information events

Maintain safe clinical operations and ensure health and safety compliance

Job responsibilities The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to lead our team of nurses and sonographers, ensuring the delivery of the highest standards of ultrasound assessment and patient care in line with the HFEA 2008 Act and the current HFEA Code of Practice. The role involves coordinating both nursing and sonography services and contributing as a key member of the Clinic Management Team, helping to oversee and plan activities across all areas of Clinical Services. You will also remain clinically active by seeing patients as part of the role, maintaining hands on nursing and sonography expertise. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled nurse with strong leadership abilities and a commitment to excellence in patient care.

This role is full time - 37.5 hours per week - weekends on rotation are required

The Location:

Nurture Fertility was established in 1991 and due to the passion, expertise, and reputation of our team, has grown into a leading fertility clinic. Providing treatment to both NHS and private patients, Nurture Fertility performs approximately 700 fresh cycles and 500 frozen cycles per year. Offering a full suite of treatment and diagnostic services, including PGT. Conveniently located on the outskirts of Nottingham, adjacent to junction 25 of the M1, there is ample free parking for staff and patients at the front of the building. Nurture Fertility also has a 5/5 inspection rating from the HFEA

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Organising
  • Oversee patient throughput across the clinic and satellite services.
  • Ensure all treatments comply with HFEA requirements.
  • Maintain adequate staffing and competence in nursing and sonography areas.
  • Allocate staff efficiently and manage work rotas.
  • Support budget development and management for nursing/sonography services.
Operations, Compliance, and Customer Service
  • Optimise patient management and service delivery.
  • Develop processes to enhance the patient experience.
  • Manage situations outside standard operating procedures.
  • Support holistic patient care and supervise adherence to best practice.
  • Ensure adequate equipment provision and maintenance.
  • Provide patients with clear information for informed consent.
Analysis and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with regulations.
  • Support clinic strategy through data collection and reporting.
  • Generate performance statistics as needed.
  • Ensure accurate communication with colleagues, patients, and suppliers.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and support clinical trials.
  • Promote the clinic's reputation in professional and patient communities.
Quality Management
  • Develop and update SOPs and protocols as practices evolve.
  • Work with the Quality Manager to maintain the Quality Management System.
People Management
  • Participate in recruitment and task allocation.
  • Drive high performance and manage HR matters.
  • Ensure staff maintain skills through CPD and relevant training.
  • Hold regular team meetings.
Supervision and Training
  • Support training and supervision of nurses, students, and trainees.
  • Participate in Patient Information Evenings and train staff to do so.
Health and Safety
  • Maintain safe and efficient clinical operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Experience and Knowledge:

1st level registration with NMC

Educated to degree level or equivalent

Minimum of 3 years managerial experience in a Healthcare setting

Experience in fertility nursing is preferable.

Ability to produce clear comprehensive reports appropriate to the request of the clinician.

Experience of project management activities to facilitate major service/operational changes.

Experience of longer term planning in a strategic context.

Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement for decision making when solutions are not obvious.

Demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to maximise service quality, efficiency and continuity.

Experience with managing common staff issues.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to identify additional service/system requirements or shortfalls and co-ordinate and/or design the delivery of innovative solutions to maximise service quality, efficiency and continuity.

Ability to ensure professional and quality service standards are maintained and applied within own area of activity.

Confidently lead and motivate a diverse team

Ability to assess current team dynamics and implement strategies to improve productivity and communication driving change where necessary
