Nurse for Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy - Oncology & Palliative Care

Are you an experienced Oncology Chemotherapy Nurse with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and looking for a new challenge?

An opportunity has arisen within our nurse-led systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) service for an experienced chemotherapy nurse to join us. This post is ideal for a nurse with experience in the administration of SACT who is keen to learn and explore a role as a SACT nurse practitioner.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced SACT nurse practitioners to develop skills in assessing patients' fitness for SACT.

We are looking for a committed professional to join our SACT nurse-led service team and contribute to the delivery of safe, compassionate, highest-quality care to patients on treatment.

Main duties of the job
  • As a SACT Nurse Practitioner, the post holder will be expected to provide clinical expert within Cancer / Chemotherapy / SACT Nursing.
  • Contribute to continually improving the patient experience by looking after a non-complex patient on SACT.
  • To work under the supervision of clinical practitioners, providing nursing assessments, care, and interventions to facilitate high-quality, individualised care to patients.
  • Contribute to developing an equitable, standardised, high-quality Chemotherapy / SACT service.
  • Provide specialist Cancer / Chemotherapy / SACT advice both within and outside.
  • Contribute to education programmes relating to Chemotherapy / SACT Nursing within and outside of the Trust.
  • Work within the Chemotherapy Day Care Unit, inpatient, and assessment units at Charing Cross Hospital

Person Specification
  • Registered nurse level 1
  • Relevant specialist course or equivalent experience in oncology nursing
  • SACT Course level 6/7 or equivalent
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
  • Advanced communication skills course
  • Has attained or is willing to work towards Degree/Bsc in Nursing.
Experience
  • Substantial post registration experience at band 6, experience in chemotherapy/ SACT
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate high-level decisionmaking skills in clinical practice
  • In depth knowledge of area of practice and demonstrates use of evidence-based practice
  • Able to demonstrate advanced communication and teaching/assessing skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to influence change
