Job Description

Are you a Network Modeller with a few years' experience, seeking the next step in your career, where you will be a key member of a team that encourages your voice, values independent thinking, and empowers you to use models to solve flooding and pollution problems? If so, we have a great opportunity for you as a Network Modeller!

We are expanding our network modelling capability with the start of a new Asset Management Programme (AMP) and are looking for you to make a positive impact by proactively improving the environment and protecting human health.

What you'll do

Our specialist team of modellers is responsible for delivering wastewater network projects across the Wessex Water region, focusing on new development, reducing overflow operation, and preventing flooding.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Building and verifying integrated catchment models using INFOWORKS ICM.
  • Using river quality modelling and survey results to assess the impact of discharges from combined sewer overflows (CSOs).
  • Developing outline solutions to resolve hydraulic problems, using sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and traditional 'hard engineering' approaches.
  • Assessing the impact of significant house building on the existing sewer system and overflows.
  • Report writing, project presentation, and project management.
  • Analyzing and presenting data using Excel and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Managing consultant-led studies and joint partnership projects.
  • Assisting with maintaining a substantial digital model library.
What you'll need
  • A relevant degree.
  • Excellent IT and communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in wastewater modelling with INFOWORKS ICM.
