Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to join our Sunrise Neonatal Unit in the position of Neonatal Staff Nurse. This position is offered on a fixed term basis working 37.5 hours per week, to cover a period of maternity leave within the team, wherein the post will end on Sunday 7th February 2027.

We are a Level 2 Neonatal Unit within the busy in North Central & East London Operational Delivery Neonatal Network and actively participate in Network groups and business. We are passionate about working in partnership with parents and delivering safe family centered care. Our Neonatal unit has 24x cots, which is comprised of 2x ITU cots, 6x HDU cots, and 16x special care costs. Designated LNU, (Level 2) we provide excellent care for preterm babies from 27 weeks' gestation and for sick new-born babies. We provide stabilization for babies at born at lower gestations prior to transfer to NICU.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the development of care and the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plan utilizing specialist skills to provide family centred care with the support of senior staff and the ward manager. The post holder will promote a friendly and supportive environment for parents and relatives in which they can learn to care for their babies.

In order to apply you need to be RN/RSCN/RM with neonatal qualifications and skills. You will be joining a team who work a variety of shifts including internal rotation to night duty, weekends and bank holidays. Person Specification Education & Qualifications
  • NMC Registered Nurse RN/RCN
  • Basic Newborn Life Support
  • NLS trained
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to prioritise and manage your own workload appropriately and independently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills including Computer skills
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to work within a multi-cultural environment.

Experience
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a neonatal unit within a team of staff and patients with diverse background/cultures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of family integrated care and Breastfeeding
  • Knowledge of neonatal policies and CQC/BAPM neonatal standards
  • Understanding of confidentiality issues
  • Understand the role of multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work in a dynamic neonatal environment
