Role Summary:This is an exciting opportunity and a great time to join Chubb as we expand our Commercial Insurance division across the UK and Ireland. Our National Underwriting Centre (NUC) is a critical part to our future success in the small and middle market spaces. The NUC Manager is a senior leadership role within Chubb UKI's Commercial Insurance division.

As an extended P&L of the regional production offices, our National Underwriting Centre (NUC) Manager is responsible for a $300 million renewal portfolio and nearly 30,000 in-force policies. The role requires a strategic thinker who is determined to improve, inefficiencies in a fast-paced, flow environment. This leader will build a culture of empowerment around a team of 60+ underwriters of varying experience levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Underwriting Centre with a mandate to grow a $300 million portfolio across P&C and A&H renewal business.
  • Directly manage a team of experienced people managers and Line of Business technical leads with a broader organizational structure of 60+ underwriters and support staff.
  • Develop and execute strategies for profitable growth, in alignment with local and regional objectives.
  • Build, manage, and enhance relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to maximize business opportunities and foster cross-selling.
  • Ensure underwriting discipline, adherence to risk appetite, and compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in underwriting processes, workflow, and technology platforms to enhance productivity and service delivery.
  • Oversee financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for the portfolio, ensuring alignment with profitability and production targets.
  • Proactively identify market trends and adapt products and processes to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through effective leadership, coaching, and development of team members.
  • Collaborate with regional CI and DCI leadership, line of business, claims, and operations teams to deliver seamless customer experiences and support business growth.
  • Ensure robust governance, audit readiness, and adherence to internal controls and external regulations.
