National Director Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh. Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is looking for a professional to lead Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh as National Director (ND) and fulfill its role as housing expert, convener, and lead implementer of innovative housing solutions. The ND must be a compelling, transformative leader with 10+ years of NGO or development sector leadership experience encompassing the following:
- Orchestrating wide-spread public and donor engagement and support of the organization's mission and strategy through a clearly articulated value proposition.
- Building a highly competent, technical leadership team and empowering, agile organizational culture capable of developing and implementing organizational strategy.
- Leading a wide range of diverse internal and external stakeholders through complex organizational change.
- Building and leading multi-sector coalitions and strategic partnerships to successfully scale solutions and advocacy impact and expand funding support.
- Securing institutional funding to support evidence-based, innovative, scalable solutions.
- Navigating the complexity of matrixed NGO structures, demonstrating collaboration with and accountability to local communities as well as local and international governance structures.
- Overseeing operational excellence of a direct service organization, including safeguarding, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and other quality controls.
This position will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The successful candidate will be offered a contract of initially 3 years and subject to renewal depending on the availability of the funds.
Responsibilities- Develop a clear and transformative vision of the future of housing to build public and donor support-Lead HFH Bangladesh in developing a clear vision and ambitious strategy, leverage a clearly articulated value proposition to drive engagement and support, and develop a plan for in-country and regional pre-positioning with FOI donors to increase and scale funding opportunities. Ensure safeguarding minimum requirements and promote a culture of safeguarding across the organization.
- Build a top-tier, people-centric leadership team and an agile, resilient organizational culture-Build a leadership team of highly competent, supportive leaders, champion an agile, transparent, people-centric culture, and oversee talent management, knowledge institutionalization, organizational development, and change management. Co-facilitate safeguarding investigations as needed.
- Oversee the implementation and growth of innovative, evidence-based programming-Lead innovative, agile programming aligned with housing objectives; leverage M&E to strengthen accountability and continuously improve evidence-based approaches; develop housing market systems to provide safe, accessible housing for low-income sectors.
- Leverage strategic partnerships to drive multi-sector, national and regional impact-Strengthen partnerships and advocacy through regional networks, cultivate multi-sector coalitions, align strategy with national government housing plans where applicable, and enhance governance collaboration within a matrixed NGO system.
- Champion good governance and the highest standards of accountability, ethics, and operational excellence-Oversee risk management, safeguarding, financial management, procurement, monitoring and evaluation, and quality controls; foster a culture of safety, inclusivity, and accountability; uphold Habitat for Humanity's code of conduct and ensure responsible use of resources.
- Collaborate with HFHI's Area Office-Work with the Area Office to operationalize the country strategy and adhere to HFHI guidelines and standards of excellence.
- Safeguarding-Ensure HFH Bangladesh's compliance with HFH Safeguarding Policy, Ethics Covenant, and Code of Conduct.
- Education-At least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (international development or relations, public administration, management, civil engineering, or social sciences).
- Years of Related Experience-Ten (10) years of relevant experience as Country Director or senior program development and strategic leadership in a humanitarian operating environment of a mid-size organization; track record in mobilizing resources and in policy advocacy.
- Leadership Competencies-Ability to lead through ambiguity and transformation, model agile learning, maintain integrity and ethics, manage organizational conflict, and promote transparency and responsiveness to employee feedback.
- Technical Competencies-Experience building external partnerships with multi-sector leaders, governments, and foundations; familiarity with change management, M&E, financial management, and quality control processes.
- Preferred-At least 5 years of cumulative experience in the Bangladesh housing or community development sector; knowledge of housing market systems; proficiency in the country's working languages.
