Reeson Education are recruiting a confident Music Therapist to work in a structured educational setting in Barnsley (S70). This role suits someone disciplined, organised, and able to use music as a direct tool to regulate behaviour, build engagement, and drive measurable outcomes.
About the Music Therapist RoleAs a Music Therapist, you will deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group sessions, using structured musical interventions to support emotional regulation, communication, and engagement. You will maintain clear session plans, firm boundaries, and consistent routines to ensure pupils remain focused and make progress.
Key Responsibilities as a Music Therapist- Therapeutic Delivery: Plan and deliver structured music therapy sessions with clear goals and outcomes.
- Behaviour & Regulation: Use music-based strategies to manage behaviour and support emotional control.
- Session Control: Maintain clear routines, boundaries, and expectations during all sessions.
- Progress Monitoring: Track engagement, emotional development, and therapeutic impact.
- Professional Coordination: Work efficiently with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in music therapy or therapeutic practice.
- A strong presence with clear, direct communication.
- Confidence managing behaviour and maintaining structure within sessions.
- An organised, outcome-focused approach to therapy delivery.
- Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or similar settings (desirable).
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply through Reeson Education.
- Competitive daily rate of £110-£140 depending on experience.
