Westminster Abbey is seeking a highly organised and creative arts administrator for the role of Music and Chorister Recruitment Coordinator. This is a key role at the heart of the Abbey's busy Music Department. As well as providing PA support to the Organist and Master of the Choristers and essential support to the General Manager in all aspects of the day to day running of the department and the delivery of the Abbey's music projects, the post-holder will have particular responsibility for developing the chorister recruitment programme and promoting choristership and the Abbey's Choir School. The role also includes oversight and day to day management of the Music Department's social media.
The successful candidate will possess a music degree (or equivalent qualification) and have substantial experience working in a similarly busy and challenging role in a classical music or arts organisation. Excellent IT and communication skills are required, along with an aptitude for relationship-building with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels and the ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload. An understanding of the traditions of cathedral music and the special nature of choristership is essential, and previous experience of marketing and PR and/or involvement in education and outreach activity would be an advantage.
