Multi Skilled Operative

We are currently looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our friendly team at Tarmac Nosterfield Sand and Gravel Quarry in North Yorkshire. The site is accessible from Ripon, Thirsk, Harrogate, Darlington, Stockton on Tees, Middlesborough, and York.

Responsibilities

• Work with aggregates on site and operate machinery (dumpers, loading shovels, etc.)
• Maintain the plant daily and keep the highest levels of housekeeping
• Operate static plant operations and help drive plant optimisation
• Collaborate with the team to ensure customers receive high quality material on time
• Operate mobile plant and perform weighbridge duties
• Conduct site safety, geotechnical, and maintenance inspections as part of the wider team
• Maintain and promote a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety
• Comply with and raise awareness of Health & Safety measures around the site

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an aggregates, quarrying, industrial or factory environment as an operative or labourer
• Previous experience or preference for quarrying and mobile plant operation
• Good communication skills
• Flexibility and ability to work as part of an effective operational team
• Self motivated and able to motivate colleagues
• Desire to develop operative and supervisory skills
• Knowledge of Risk Assessments within the operative role
• Knowledge of SSOW (HIRA) and Permit systems preferred but not essential
• Good time keeping and flexibility to meet quarry requirements
• Proactive in raising safety concerns with management
• Full UK driving licence
• IT literate preferred (training provided)
• Mobile plant licences preferred but not essential
